This policy explains what information Golden Reel collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account we collect:

Name – used to identify you within the app.
Email address – used for login and password recovery.
Password – stored as a one-way hash; we cannot read it.

While you use the app we store the content you create:

Films added to your watchlist or watched list
Ratings and notes attached to films
Personal notes you write inside the app

We do not collect location data, payment information, device identifiers, or any form of analytics or tracking data.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Golden Reel service
To authenticate you and keep your account secure
To send password-reset emails when you request them

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a MongoDB Atlas database. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using an industry-standard one-way cryptographic algorithm and are never stored in plain text.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only external service that handles your data is MongoDB Atlas (database hosting), which is governed by its own privacy policy.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all associated data — watchlist, watched films, ratings, and notes — is permanently and immediately removed from our database.

6. Your Rights

Access: You can view all your data inside the app at any time.
Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all data from Settings → Delete Account inside the app.
Correction: Contact us to correct any account information.

7. Children's Privacy

Golden Reel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
